The WaunaFest Run is a 42 year community tradition. A portion of the proceeds are donated to WaunaFest and enables the Waunakee Area Chamber to operate as a non-profit information resource to businesses and the public year-round.

WaunaFest Run starts on Division St. next to the Village Park Gazebo. Join the fun and register early to save money and guarantee your race t-shirt. See why “Silent Sports” Magazine rates this run “one of the best in the area, where community participation and support still mean something.” Enjoy a great race, awards, music, food, beer and a weekend of WaunaFest fun. Online registration closes at 11:59 p.m. on July 21. However, you can still register in person on Friday July 24 from 3:30-6:30 p.m. or day of the race from 6-7:15 a.m. at the Village Center.

The WaunaFest Run 10 Mile and 5K are timed events. The 2 Mile and Kiddie Run are not timed. The MYLAPS BibTag Timing system is used to ensure accurate timing. Your timing tag is on the back of your bib and does not need to be returned after the race. Your bib must be properly worn for the timing mats to read your bib tag and record accurate results. Your time will be posted online the day of the event.

Musical Memories will announce awards at 9:45 a.m. near the finish line in Village Park. All top finishers in each category receive a medal:

  • 1st Place Overall Male and Female 5K Winners (total of 2 winners)
  • Fastest Waunakee Male and Female 5K Winners (total of 2 winners)
  • 1st Place Overall Male and Female 10 Mile Winners (total of 2 winners)
  • Fastest Waunakee Male and Female 10 Mile Winners (total of 2 winners)
  • 1st Place Male and Female Age Division Winners: 10 Mile & 5K (total of 56 winners)

Age Divisions: 14-under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75+

The race will start on Division St. next to the Waunakee Village Park Gazebo. The 10 mile and 5k run and 2 mile walk finish in the scenic Waunakee Village Park. Please see map routes – 10 mile, 5k and 2 mile walk/run.

A percentage of the proceeds are given back to WaunaFest Non-profit Organization to help bring WaunaFest Festival to you year after year. A portion of the proceeds also help support Chamber programs and projects that enhance economic development and community partnerships and allow the doors of the chamber to be open to the public 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The Run is a traditional part of the WaunaFest Weekend community celebration, and the Chamber is excited to be a part of this great event!

Waunakee’s annual summer festival WaunaFest runs from Thursday, July 23 through Sunday, July 26, 2020. Be sure to stop by the “This Bud’s for You” fun and sporty Chamber Beer Garden tent at WaunaFest to enjoy an ice cold beverage and watch the softball games. WaunaFest also includes a carnival, entertainment tent, softball, soccer and volleyball tournaments, Saturday craft fair, food vendors and a Sunday parade.

Yes. Day of registration starts at 6 a.m. at the Waunakee Village Center, 333 S. Madison St. (see registration fees above).

No refunds will be issued. The event will occur regardless of weather. Registrations can be reassigned to a runner with advance notice.

Pets are not permitted (however, service animals are allowed). For safety reasons, no strollers or baby joggers are allowed in the 10 mile and 5k run. Strollers, wagons and baby joggers are only allowed in the 2 mile walk, and please stay to the back of the pack at the start line and to the far right on the home stretch to the finish line to allow runners to pass safely.
